This short course provides a simple introduction to the creation of cinemagraphs – photographs that exhibit a minor and usually repeated movement. In spite of the use of animation techniques, cinemagraphs are generally perceived as still images rather than as videos. And they are now seen as a trendy way for breaking up overly static digital image galleries.
The hype surrounding cinemagraphs was also one of the reasons, why the old image format GIF experienced a revival a few years ago. After all, out of the box most modern image editing applications are capable of exporting images in GIF format, which means that you don't need any specialized animation software for the creation of cinemagraphs. Thus, in this course we will simply use Adobe Photoshop.
